"Be Simple Signs of God's Love"

At last night's Chrism Mass, Bishop Quinn invited us to "be simple signs of God's love." It was a beautiful reflection on the meaning of our Christian life and the meaning of the use to which the blessed oils will be put this year. The beautiful Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Mankato was full and the parish did an outstanding job of hosting the diocesan Church. May you have a blessed Holy Week.

Welcome

Welcome to a blog dedicated to the liturgical life of the Diocese of Winona. Check here for news of upcoming events and pictures and reflections of diocesan celebrations.

With Holy Week just around the corner liturgical ministers are busy with final preparations. It is a time of intense prayer and effort but one which fills us with profound joy. I try to get most of my preparations done before Holy Thursday so I can enter the Triduum with a quiet spirit.

On Monday, the Diocese of Winona will gather for the Mass of Chrism. This year we are hosted by Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Mankato. Fr. Mariano and the parishioners are working hard to provide a great start to Holy Week. All are welcome at this beautiful, prayerful liturgy where Bishop Quinn will bless the oils used in the sacramental life of the Church in the coming year.
